As the European Commission is finalizing a new law on animal experimentation across the European Union, actress Gillian Anderson and PETA want to make sure that it comes out in favour of the animals.

Gillian Anderson: Could not Control Her accent

Gillian Anderson was born in Chicago but she grew up in London. She admits that she finds it bizarre that her dialect switches rapidly from British to American without her intending to.

She said: "Even on the phone my accent will change. Part of me wishes I could control it but I can't."

"I just slip into one or the other. When I moved to the States I tried to cling on to my British accent because it made different."

The "X-Files" star insists she is glad that she has lived in several different cities because it has made her a more rounded person.

Here's one I didn't see coming! "Foxy" X-Files star Gillian Anderson is to appear in the next series of Doctor Who as a deadly new enemy to Matt Smith, the 11th Timelord to star in the series.

The actress played Dana Scully in hit show The X-Files and is reportedly being lined up to play The Rani, a renegade Timelord who last appeared in the series in the 1980s.

According to sources, BBC execs want the star to appear in a one-off episode of Matt's first series, due to air in 2010.

Well known to science fiction fans, the actress who played FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the X-Files is likely to take on the part of the renegade Time Lady The Rani opposite the new Doctor Matt Smith, according to the Daily Express.

A source told the newspaper: "The team behind the show are keen for the next Doctor to have lots of new enemies and Gillian would be a glamorous and impressive addition to the list."

World's First Solar-Powered Film Premiere

The worlds' first premiere in a solar cinema tent has been held for environmental film The Age of Stupid.

Pete Postlethwaite, an Oscar-nominated actor, was joined on a "green" carpet by X-Files star Gillian Anderson, model Keeley Hazell and former mayor of London Ken Livingstone.

The film sees Postlethwaite play an old man living alone in a devastated world in 2055, looking back at footage from 2008 and despairing why we did not stop environmental damage.

The premiere took place in a tent in the gardens at the centre of Leicester Square in London's west end.
